As expected after its 120-84 thumping of UCLA, and North Carolina’s 86-72 loss to North Carolina State, Duke (25-2) moved back into the top spot of the Associated Press college basketball poll.

It’s the third time this season the Blue Devils have been No.1, and losses to Michigan and North Carolina followed the previous two sessions as the nation’s leader.

The first game as No. 1 this time will be Wednesday against Georgia Tech. Then comes the rematch with North Carolina on Saturday.

Arizona (24-3) moved from third to second, and North Carolina (26-2) dropped to third.

Stanford moved up two spots to eighth and UCLA dropped six spots, to 18th.

Relying on information from the Riley County (Kan.) police department, The Associated Press erroneously reported on Sunday that football player Michael Bishop faced battery charges and basketball player Manny Dies marijuana and alcohol charges after the two Kansas State athletes were arrested over the weekend.

Bishop and Dies were arrested on suspicion of those charges early Sunday. They had not been formally charged as of Monday.
