An exhibition of winning entries from school-aged children in the citywide “5th Annual Billboard Project” will open today in the Children’s Gallery at the Junior Arts Center. The contest invited anyone between 5 and 17 to create an original artwork under the theme, “Imagine a Great City . . . What I Love About L.A.” The 600-plus entries were judged by artists, art instructors and other staff at the Junior Arts Center in Barnsdall Art Park. Tony Chang, 6, of La Crescenta was awarded the grand prize: to have his artwork on 12- by 24-foot color billboards located in 15 spots around Los Angeles County.

A rock-climbing wall and a fly-fishing casting tank are among the attractions at the Great Western Sports, RV and Travel Show, along with hundreds of campers and trailers, boats and all-terrain vehicles. Learn about everything from financing a boat to operating one at seminars each day.

Richard Dreyfuss headlines as Benedict Arnold in L.A. Theatre Works’ radio theater production of “The General From America,” an intimate portrait of the American Revolution by Richard Nelson. The large-cast show, at Doubletree Guest Suites in Santa Monica, also stars Charles Durning, Shirley Knight and Douglas Weston.
