An End to a Season and Career for Jones
Tight end Brent Jones caught the last passes of his San Francisco 49er career Sunday, confirming his retirement after the game.
“Guys from both teams were coming up to me after the game, saying, ‘Good game and great career,’ ” Jones said after the 49ers lost to the Green Bay Packers, 23-10, in the NFC championship game. “I kind of lost it a little. I’m going to miss this a lot.”
Veteran guard Jesse Sapolu also is considering calling it a career.
“I’ll have to talk about that with my wife,” Sapolu said. “As disappointed as I feel right now, it makes me feel there’s still some unfinished business.”

Impressed with the Packers? Not all of the 49ers are.
“Green Bay got out of here with one,” 49er guard Ray Brown said, “because they played good, but they know we’re not the same team as last year.”
Said teammate J.J. Stokes: “Nothing Green Bay does is mind-boggling.”
