Car Dealer’s Sign Must Reflect Heritage

Share

Even local car dealership signs must comply with strict city ordinances requiring buildings to reflect California’s early Latino heritage.

That’s the message the city’s Design Review Committee is sending to owners of Weseloh Honda, along with a request for the business to change the “generic” design of a proposed 25-foot-tall sign.

The proposed sign would include an 8-by 8-foot blue crown with the word “Honda” and a logo. But the city’s architectural design guidelines require buildings within view of Interstate 5 to reflect architectural styles, including Monterey, Mission Revival and Spanish Revival.
