Tustin Rallies to Overtake Ocean View

Jacky Williams’ 15-foot jump shot with nine seconds left gave Tustin a two-point lead and the Tillers held on for a 47-45 victory over Ocean View in a Golden West League girls’ basketball game Tuesday night at Ocean View.

Ocean View (8-9, 1-2) had a chance to tie, but committed a turnover with two seconds left and the Tillers ran out the clock.

Led by Williams, who scored six of her 12 points in the quarter, the Tillers (13-3, 3-0) used a half-court trap and man defense to overcome a seven-point deficit.

Susana Jara scored 14 points for Tustin.

Anna Lembke had 24 points for Ocean View.

In other Golden West League games:

Rosary 77, Saddleback 36--Sarah Belavic had 16 assists, Romina Bollini scored 24 points and Maggie Barnett had 17 points for Rosary (11-7, 2-1).

Westminster 62, Santa Ana 36--Tara Moore scored 15 points and Erin Arganda had 13, including 11 in the first half when visiting Westminster (15-4, 3-0) outscored Santa Ana, 34-20.

In the Century League:

Villa Park 56, Orange 44--With Randi Perry in foul trouble, Orange (9-6, 0-2) was able to score only two second-quarter points as Villa Park (11-4, 2-0) took a 31-16 lead at the half. Missy Bynon led the Spartans with 25 points and Jennifer O’Keefe added 10. Priscilla Deason lead Orange with 17 points, Elizabeth Ngayan added 11 and Perry grabbed 13 rebounds and scored six points.

In the Empire League:

No. 7 El Dorado 61, Katella 25--Stephanie Patten scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds for El Dorado (14-3, 2-0). Teammate Jennie Bluth scored 12 points and had 13 rebounds.

El Dorado’s Alexis Graves had 14 points.

Kennedy 41, Cypress 40--Kennedy trailed by nine points with 1:30 left in the game. Lauren Shinto scored the winning basket on a layup with five seconds remaining. Cira Wright added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Fighting Irish (14-6, 1-1). Cypress is 8-8, 1-1.

Loara 56, Century 54 (OT)--Loara made nine of 10 free throws in overtime, including six of six by Jessica Miles. Shawnna Walker scored 18 points, Carrie Banister had 16 points and 14 rebounds and Miles had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Saxons (11-6, 1-1).

In the Olympic League:

Calvary Chapel 44, Ontario Christian 29--Cathy Joens scored 16 points, including two three-pointers, and had four steals for Calvary Chapel. The Eagles (14-3, 2-0) led at halftime, 25-13. Synthia Offinga scored 13 points for Ontario (9-7, 0-2).

In the Orange League:

No. 1 Brea Olinda 94, Western 10--Lindsey Davidson scored 19 points and had four assists for Brea Olinda, which led at halftime, 45-5. Erin Kelly added 16 points and Chelsea Trotter 14 and nine rebounds for the Ladycats (13-1, 1-0).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Aliso Niguel 71, Laguna Beach 23--Kristin Moorehouse scored 30 points and had 12 rebounds for Aliso Niguel (8-8, 2-0). Sara Glass added 12 points for the Wolverines.

University 44, Laguna Hills 35--Fala Suiauoa and Amy McCoy each scored 14 points in a victory for University (7-10, 2-0). Liz Rocha had 12 rebounds for the Trojans. Laguna Hills is 3-9, 1-1.

In South Coast League girls’ basketball:

No. 2 San Clemente 63, Trabuco Hills 32--Colleen Turnbull scored 18 points for San Clemente (16-3, 2-0), which outscored host Trabuco Hills, 28-6, in the third quarter to take a 32-point lead.

No. 6 Mater Dei 77, Mission Viejo 23--Lindsay Pavlik scored 12 points and Kristian Kirkpatrick added 12 for visiting Mater Dei. The Monarchs (8-9, 1-1) led at halftime, 38-16. Freshman Lindsey Huie scored 12 points for Mission Viejo (7-7, 0-2).

In the Sunset League:

No. 3 Esperanza 48, No. 8 Edison 37--Trailing by six, Esperanza went on a 17-0 run in the fourth quarter to avoid the upset. Allison Gerber scored eight of her 10 points in the fourth quarter off of Edison turnovers.

Kim Omer had 13 points for Esperanza (11-6, 2-0).

Christina Patterson scored 18 points for the Chargers (16-2, 1-1).

No. 5 Marina 73, Huntington Beach 54--Chanda McLeod scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for host Marina, which led at halftime, 32-29. Natalie Nakase added 15 points and eight assists for the Vikings (15-3, 2-0).

Debbie Slama scored 16 points and Courtney McKinney added 13 for Huntington Beach (9-10, 0-2).
