Five people were assaulted during a home-invasion robbery early Sunday morning after allowing one of the robbers, a woman who said she needed to use the telephone, inside the residence, police said.

The woman told the occupants that she had been stranded by her boyfriend, but moments after she entered, two men forced their way into the home in the 17100 block of Bolsa Chica Street, Sgt. Mike Metoyer said. The men then forced all five occupants into the living room, he said.

The woman and one of the men stood guard over the victims while the third suspect ransacked the house, police said. The robbers became angry and beat one of the victims, then the occupants became angry and fought back, Metoyer said.

The three took about $250 in cash and fled in a black compact car with “loud exhaust,” police said. They were last seen heading north on Bolsa Chica Street.

The woman was described as 22 to 30 years old, 5 feet, 1 inch, about 135 pounds, with dark hair and a light complexion. She was wearing a dark sweatshirt with a hood, a white shirt and dark blue pants, police said.

One of the men was described as Latino, 28 to 30 years old, about 5 feet, 6 inches, 150 pounds, with black hair and mustache, and wearing a blue jacket and light brown baggy pants.

The other was described as white, 22 to 25 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches, about 110 pounds, with a shaved head and tattoos on his neck. He was dressed in a green plaid jacket, a blue T-shirt, green shorts and black boots.
