Royal High senior sweeper Sean Gesell, Crespi senior midfielder Justin Canel and Kennedy senior midfielder Greg Avila have been selected to the 1997 National Soccer Coaches of America Assn. Region VIII team.

Royal High boys’ soccer Coach Kevin Corley said Friday, contrary to a published report, he has not applied to become men’s coach at Moorpark College.

Corley said Royal girls’ Coach Andy Silva, who coached the Simi Valley boys’ team before taking his present position, has applied for the Moorpark job.

“Andy and I have talked about it and I said I’d be interested in becoming his assistant if he gets the job,” Corley said.
