Like the Ramones, the members of the Donnas have all adopted group-centric names--Donna C., Donna F., Donna A. and Donna R. But this attitude-fueled foursome will cite KISS and AC/DC as key influences as much as any punk-rockers. Coming into the Troubadour, the Palo Alto adolescents are making noise in the indie-rock world with their new album “American Teenage Rock ‘n’ Roll Machine.”

Victor Vener conducts his California Philharmonic Orchestra in a “Very Viennese” pops program, set in the pastoral L.A. County Arboretum. The program features David Washburn playing the Trumpet Concerto by Haydn, Beethoven’s “Pastoral” symphony, as well as Johann Strauss’ waltz, “Roses From the South.” Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for picnics. Bring your own or order in advance from participating restaurants.

The William Hall Master Chorale gives the Southern California premiere of Paul McCartney’s oratorio “Standing Stone” in Costa Mesa. Sunday, the year-old work reaches Los Angeles, where John Mauceri conducts the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the L.A. Master Chorale in a Bowl performance dedicated to the memory of McCartney’s late wife, Linda. Also at the Bowl performance, Actress Gloria Stuart (“Titanic”) will read the poetry McCartney wrote in preparation for his composition.

Hundreds of dealers will exhibit and sell collectible books, prints, maps and autographs at the Santa Monica Book Fair this weekend. Also offered: free appraisals for up to three books with paid admission, and book signings by Steve Allen, Edd “Kookie” Byrnes (“Kookie No More”), Tom Reed (“Black Music History of Los Angeles”) and others.

AIDS Project Los Angeles hosts its annual “Summer Party--the Summer of Love” fund-raiser with food from dozens of L.A. restaurants (including Boxer, the Farm and Vida), three dance floors, comedy, casino-style gambling, a silent auction and more, all on the back lot at Universal Studios.

Families can sample traditional Ukrainian music, dance and art at UCLA Armand Hammer Museum’s free all-day Ukrainian Festival. Activities will include a tsymbaly (a traditional instrument) duet, Ukrainian storytelling, children’s art workshops in pysanka (decorative eggs) and cross-stitch, an art lecture and a performance from the saber-wielding Zaporizhian Kozaks.
