Chico Hits Five Homers, Defeats Vigilantes Again
Chico scored five times in the second inning after two outs and went on to beat the Vigilantes, 11-1, in a Western League baseball game Saturday at Saddleback College.
Chico, which took the last three games in the four-games series that opened the second half, hit five home runs Saturday.
Alquentin Harley, Justin Mashore, Terrel Hanson, Nate Palmer and Jeff Rhein homered for the Heat, which outscored Mission Viejo, 28-4, over the past three games.
Palmer, who had a two-run double in the second, drove in four runs and Hanson, who hit a two-run homer in the third, had three RBIs.
Alan Burke hit a home run in the fourth for the Vigilantes, which had 11 hits but left eight runners on base.
Jose Salcedo, who got the victory, gave up 11 hits in 8 2/3 innings and had 11 strikeouts.
The Vigilantes’ Kent Ervin gave up 10 hits and 10 earned runs in five innings to take the loss.
Robert Murro had three hits and Phil Kernan and Sam Voita two for the Vigilantes (1-3).
