Officials Issue Warnings on Predator Crimes
City officials have launched a program to help educate gay men about the dangers of taking home strangers.
The City Council and members of the city’s commissions and advisory boards walked along Santa Monica Boulevard distributing fliers at bars and nightclubs. The fliers provide advice about how men can safeguard themselves against so-called predator crimes, those in which victims are assaulted, robbed or killed by casual companions.
The effort was launched in anticipation of the city’s Christopher Street West Gay and Lesbian Pride Festival, which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
