What’s happening this summer:

* More than 450 artists from 11 countries bring laughter to the streets, comedy clubs and theaters during the 16th edition of the Just for Laughs comedy festival, July 15-26. There will be five festival galas at the St. Denis Theatre, hosted by Don Rickles, Ray Romano, Rob Schneider, Fred Savage and Kevin Pollak, and featuring a lineup of veterans and up-and-coming artists. Montreal’s Club Soda hosts 27 shows including an all-female comic revue hosted by Kathy Griffin, right, July 21-22. Also on the festival bill: a new talent showcase, an alternative comedy lab, one-person shows, theater presentations, a showcase of short films and animation, a lineup of British comedy stars, tributes, alternative and experimental comedy. * The Montreal Jazz Festival, July 1-12, offers 100 ticketed indoor concerts and more than 300 free outdoor shows, including a Gershwin tribute featuring Michael Feinstein, pianist Adam Makowicz and the Grand Orchestre du Festival de Jazz. The festival showcases long-established players like Wynton Marsalis, Joe Henderson and Wayne Shorter, as well as newcomers such as Roni Size, the Herbaliser and Federation.
