City officials will give a $25,000 reward to anyone providing information leading to the prosecution of a suspect in the slaying of a 37-year-old man, police said Thursday.

Akira Saiki, a sales manager for Sapporo Beer Co., was shot to death in his garage as he returned from dinner with friends, said Lt. Julie Nelson of the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau.

Nelson said Saiki may have been followed to his home in the 700 block of 154th Street when he drove there alone about 11:45 p.m. on June 5.

Saiki’s wife and two young children were inside the home when he was shot repeatedly by an unknown assailant or assailants, Nelson said.

She said a black Cadillac was seen leaving the area around the time of the shooting.

Police are seeking witnesses who saw anything near the shooting scene or the intersection of Redondo Beach Boulevard and Vermont Avenue at the time of the crime.

Witnesses are urged to call South Bureau homicide detectives at (213) 237-1310.
