Sting Retains Top Spot in the WNBA
Andrea Stinson scored 25 points and Vicky Bullett added 20 Thursday night as the Charlotte Sting improved their WNBA-best record to 6-1 with a 91-83 victory over the Utah Starzz (2-5) before 5,949 at Salt Lake City.
Utah’s 7-foot-2 center Margo Dydek had 21 points.
Detroit 79, Washington 71--Korie Hlede scored 11 of her 17 points in the second half to lead the Shock (3-4) to a victory over the Mystics (1-5) in a battle of the WNBA’s newest teams before 7,386 at Auburn Hills, Mich.
Detroit overcame 23 points by Nikki McCray to pick up its third consecutive victory.
