Pedestrian Killed by Car Identified
Police have identified the 77-year-old victim of a weekend traffic accident in midtown Ventura.
William Vernon Guinn of Ventura was walking across Thompson Boulevard west of Catalina Street around 6:35 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by a car driven by Alan Ross Sheal, 37, of Ventura, police said. Guinn suffered major head injuries and was pronounced dead at Ventura County Medical Center a short time later.
Police said Sheal told them he had been drinking alcohol before the collision. He was tested to determine his blood-alcohol content.
Police said Sunday the investigation is continuing. Witnesses to the accident are encouraged to call Cpl. John Turner at the Ventura Police Department at 339-4435.
