Man Arrested in Knife-Wielding Case
A 21-year-old man was arrested after he brandished a knife in a futile attempt to get free beer at a liquor store and then broke the store’s plate-glass window, authorities said.
Armando Broncas entered Saticoy Liquors in the 1500 block of Los Angeles Avenue around 6:45 p.m. Saturday and told the clerk he wanted free beer, authorities said. When the clerk refused, Broncas allegedly pulled out a knife and lunged at the employee.
Broncas missed the clerk and fell to the floor, according to police. He then got to his feet, struck a store display and, after exiting the store, threw an object through the front window, police said.
Broncas was later arrested without incident. He was taken to Ventura County Medical Center for a medical clearance and then booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of attempted robbery. Bail was set at $50,000.
