A 30-year-old Sylmar man was hospitalized in serious but stable condition early Sunday morning after being stabbed several times in the upper back during a fight with three men.

Police have arrested one man in the stabbing, which took place at 1:50 a.m. in the 100 block of S. 1st Street. Cesar L. Passlacque, 21, of Van Nuys is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail on suspicion of attempted murder.

The victim and a male companion were driving out of the parking lot of Bobby McGee’s restaurant when they were confronted by another vehicle, said Burbank Police Lt. Larry Koch. The three suspects got out of their vehicle and approached the men.

Koch said he did not know whether the victim left the car voluntarily or was pulled out. According to the detective, the men began fighting and the victim was stabbed several times, puncturing both lungs.

“It doesn’t look like they knew each other,” Koch said. “It just looks like words were exchanged and a fight broke out.”

Koch said the victim’s companion, who was driving, got out of the car when the fight broke out. The man suffered minor injuries.

After the fight, Koch said, the suspects drove off. Witnesses gave police a partial license plate number, which led them to Passlacque.
