Fullerton Falls to No. 7 Wichita State, 9-2

Steve Foral and Marc Bluma combined on a six-hitter to help seventh-ranked Wichita State defeat Cal State Fullerton, 9-2, Tuesday at San Diego.

Foral (2-1) gave up six hits and had four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings and Bluma allowed one walk to earn his third save. Jeff Ryan had three hits, three RBIs and scored two runs for the Shockers (13-1).

Steve Chatham had two hits and a run for the Titans (20-10), ranked 16th by Collegiate Baseball.

Later Tuesday afternoon, Fullerton defeated San Diego, 10-8. The game was called after eight innings because of darkness.

Reliever Jordan DeJong pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up one run and four hits to earn the victory. Kirk Saarloos pitched a perfect two-thirds of an inning for his first save.

San Diego (15-18) scored seven runs off Titan starter George Carralejo, but Fullerton rallied to take a 9-8 lead in the seventh inning.

Ryan Fullerton and David Bacani each had two hits and two RBIs for Fullerton.

In Golden State Athletic Conference baseball:

Southern California College 2-6, Point Loma Nazarene 1-5--Kevin Moore had game-winning hits in both victories of the doubleheader sweep for host SCC.

Moore hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth to break a 1-1 tie in the first game and pitcher David Ross threw a six-hitter and didn’t allow an earned run to improve to 3-1 for SCC (17-13, 10-8).

In the second game, SCC rallied from a two-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings, then Moore singled home Brian Chambers with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth for SCC.

In the Sun West softball tournament:

Chapman 3, Linfield (Ore.) 0--Stephanie Carew broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning with her ninth home run of the season. Laura Bailey added a two-run double later in the inning.

Pitcher Linsey Buendia pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts for the Panthers and improved her record to 5-0.

Chapman 14, St. Catherine (Minn.) 0 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Katie Smithson pitched a four-hitter with six strikeouts and Shannon Carlson had two hits for the Panthers (22-2), who have won 18 of 20 games they have played in the tournament.
