Highland Hits Seven Homers in 25-10 Win

Highland High set school records for runs and home runs and defeated Quartz Hill for the second time this week, 25-10, in a Golden League baseball game Friday at Quartz Hill.

The Bulldogs (12-8, 7-3 in league play) hit seven homers in a game halted after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Jon Anello set a school record with eight runs batted in for the Bulldogs, who trailed, 9-7, after two innings.

Isaac Campos hit the first home run of his career, a three-run shot, to put Highland ahead for good, 11-9.

Anello hit two home runs, including a grand slam in the fourth.

On Wednesday, Highland defeated Quartz Hill, 22-11, in five innings. The Bulldogs, who have won six consecutive games, hit five home runs in that game.

Ryan West had two hits for Quartz Hill (9-11, 3-8).

Thousand Oaks 4, Agoura 2--Matt Rogers struck out nine and scattered seven hits for the Lancers, who broke a five-game losing streak in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks.

Ryan Donahue, Kevin Mitchell, Adam Levitt and John Smith each had two hits for Thousand Oaks (14-7-1, 5-4-1).

Clark Clifford hit a run-scoring single for Agoura.

Hart 8, Saugus 2--Andy Davidson pitched a five-hitter with nine strikeouts for the second-ranked Indians (20-3, 9-2) in a Foothill League victory at Saugus.

Davidson allowed one earned run and three walks.

J.T. Stotts had three hits and two stolen bases, and Tim Hutting had a solo home run and a two-run single for Hart, which has won four straight.

Luke Miller had two hits for Saugus (8-13, 5-6).

Ventura 7, Oxnard 3--The Cougars had six of their seven hits, including five in a row, during a five-run third inning in a Channel League game at Oxnard.

Scott Robertson had two hits and an RBI for Ventura (7-9-1, 2-6-1).

Jason Branch (4-4) struck out seven and allowed five hits in five innings for the Cougars.

Chad Pierson hit a home run for Oxnard (8-8-1, 2-6-1), which committed nine errors.

Rio Mesa 10, Santa Barbara 5--John Ramirez went three for three with two home runs and five RBIs for the Spartans in a Channel League victory at Rio Mesa. Frank Tinoco hit a three-run homer and Isaac Romero had two hits for Rio Mesa (18-4, 9-1).

Ernie Borjas (8-1) of Rio Mesa pitched a six-hitter, striking out seven.

Crescenta Valley 2, Arcadia 0--Jordan Olson (5-1) struck out seven and walked two in a three-hitter for Crescenta Valley (18-3-1, 8-2-1), ranked third in the region by The Times. Chris Oliver drove in one run, scored the other and had two of the Falcons’ four hits.

Dos Pueblos 8, Hueneme 4--The Chargers (8-11, 6-4) scored seven unearned runs in a Channel League game that was called after 5 1/2 innings because of rain at Dos Pueblos.

Rigo Garcia, Francisco Camarena and Jason Austin each had two hits for Hueneme (13-8, 6-4).

Moorpark 2, Santa Clara 0--Jim Oxford (4-1) and Wes Rasmussen combined on a four-hitter in a Frontier League game at Moorpark (15-6, 9-2).

Terrance Dotsy (3-3) had two hits for Santa Clara (8-8, 5-6).

Calabasas 11, Malibu 4--Sophomore Tony Sulser (2-1) pitched three scoreless innings in relief and had a two-run double in a nine-run sixth inning for the Coyotes in a Frontier League game at Malibu.

Randy Curtis, who hit two doubles, and Blake Benson each had three hits for Calabasas (9-11, 7-4).

Palmdale 6, Antelope Valley 1--Mike Arellano had two home runs and four RBIs for the Falcons in a Golden League game at Palmdale.

Mark Hendricks gave up three hits while striking out five in five innings for Palmdale (16-4, 10-0), which has won six consecutive games.

Royal 8, Simi Valley 6--Mike Byer had three hits and two RBIs and Brian Lipman had three hits and an RBI for the Highlanders (15-4, 8-1) in a Marmonte League victory at Royal.

Andrew Karp had two hits and two RBIs for Simi Valley.

L.A. Baptist 10, Village Christian 5--Tim Feirfeil had two hits, scored three runs and had four stolen bases for the Knights in an Alpha League victory at Village Christian.

Scott Swenson scored a run and added an RBI for L.A. Baptist (13-4, 5-0).

Valencia 11, Burbank 5--Ryan Coe had three hits, including a two-run homer, and three RBIs for the Vikings (15-7, 7-4) in a Foothill League victory at Burbank.

Brady Burrill and Marty Mears hit consecutive home runs in the Vikings’ seven-run second inning, and Eric Zambrano hit a two-run homer in the fifth.

Jacob Sheffield homered for Burbank.

Fillmore 8, Oak Park 4--Isaac Oseguera had three hits, including a three-run home run, and four RBIs for the Flashes (12-3, 8-0) in a Tri-Valley League game at Oak Park.

Harvard-Westlake 2, Chaminade 0--Adam Siegel (4-2) pitched a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and hit his fourth home run in four games for the Wolverines in a Mission League game at Franklin Field.

Matt Thayer also homered for the Wolverines (13-8, 5-3).

Brian Kirby pitched a five-hitter for Chaminade (9-12-1, 2-5-1), striking out three and walking three.

Littlerock 11, Lancaster 7--Matt Park had a triple and an RBI for Lancaster (11-9, 4-7) in a Golden League game at Lancaster. Littlerock is 7-13, 2-9.

St. Bonaventure 12, Bishop Diego 2--Matt Leeth had three hits and four RBIs for the Seraphs in a Tri-Valley League game at St. Bonaventure.

Zach Gallagher had two hits and four RBIs for the Seraphs (7-10, 5-3).

Campbell Hall 10, Pacific Hills 0--Michael Frost struck out seven and walked none in a two-hitter for the Vikings (11-8, 5-1) in a Delphic League victory at West Los Angeles College.

Steve Kim hit a two-run home run.

Oakwood 4, Buckley 0--Aaron Wolf pitched a two-hitter and struck out five for the Gorillas in a Liberty League victory at Oakwood.

Nick Schifrin’s run-scoring single highlighted a three-run first inning for Oakwood (3-7, 1-6).
