Laird Sets Section Record for Runs
Gerald Laird broke the Southern Section career record for runs as top-ranked La Quinta defeated Los Amigos, 13-4, in a Garden Grove League baseball game at Los Amigos.
With one out in the third inning, Laird walked, stole second and scored on a single by Adriel Gomez to give him 157 runs. The previous record was 156 set by Riverside Bethel Christian’s Daryle Ward (1990-93).
Laird, who had two hits and an RBI, scored twice.
La Quinta is 23-1, 9-0.
