Cowsill Makes a Quick Impact

Brendon Cowsill (Crescenta Valley High) has two saves in two appearances since being promoted to Lake Elsinore by the Angels last week.

The 23-year-old converted infielder is the son of Paul Cowsill, a member of the popular singing group of the 1960s and ‘70s, The Cowsills.

The right-hander, a 34th-round selection in 1993, was 1-0 with one save and a 2.45 earned-run average for Cedar Rapids before the promotion.

At Lake Elsinore, Cowsill has struck out three, walked two and allowed one hit in 3 2/3 innings.

Former JetHawk Shawn Buhner has been selected the Southern League’s player of the week.

Buhner, the younger brother of Mariner All-Star Jay Buhner, had six doubles, two home runs, nine runs batted in and hit .500 for Orlando, the Mariners’ double-A affiliate.
