Extra Work Is Par for the Course

Tony Cicero and Vince Zuniga are used to being multi-sport athletes at Cleveland High, just not two sports in one season.
Both juniors played football for the Cavaliers and are the starting catcher and first baseman for the baseball team.
This year, they added golf to their repertoire, lending a hand to Cleveland’s fledging second-year program.
“The coaches heard that Tony and I play golf every weekend,” Zuniga said. “We figured we could do it if we had the time.”
The golf coaches tried their best, scheduling home matches on Fridays--days Cleveland did not play baseball, but El Nino got in the way.
“We were doing all right for a while but then it started raining and we’d have makeup games on Fridays,” Zuniga said.
The duo missed the City League 1 Championships last Thursday because the baseball team was playing Kennedy. The Cavaliers finished fifth out of six schools. Zuniga and Cicero didn’t fare well either: Cleveland lost to Kennedy, 7-2.
