* Southern Section Individual Championships, 3 today and 1 Saturday: Mixed doubles preliminaries and finals are today, featuring top county teams. Ocean View’s Huy Le and Thao Nguyen, Loara’s Tina Dao and Sophea Kiet and Garden Grove’s Tam Nguyen and Rosie Pham all should make a run at the finals, but Diamond Bar, Alhambra Keppel and Long Beach Wilson have some tough competitors.

Singles and doubles’ competition is Saturday. Garden Grove’s Cynthia Tran, undefeated this season, is the favorite to take the girls’ singles title. Garden Grove’s Nguyen, Diamond Bar’s Aaron Ow Young and Long Beach Wilson are tops in boy’s singles.

* Southern Section Team Championships, 3 Tuesday: In Division I, Ocean View hosts La Quinta. La Quinta’s only losses this season came to top 10 teams and it should give Ocean View a test. Second-seeded Garden Grove will host Rowland Heights Rowland.

In Division II, second-seeded Loara and fourth-seeded Century should have easy opening-round matches. Century hosts Covina Gladstone and Long Beach Poly visits Loara.
