* Big Bear Lake Big Bear at La Quinta, 3:15 p.m., Friday: The Aztecs (26-1) enter the Southern Section playoffs top-seeded in Division IV. Their offense is led by Gerald Laird (.649, six homers, 38 runs batted in). The Bears (7-13), who finished second in the De Anza League, struggled to make their seventh consecutive appearance in the playoffs. Their one section title came in 1993, when they won the Division V championship.

* El Toro at Servite, 3:15 p.m., Friday: The Friars (19-6-1) have made reaching the Division I championship game their mission. It starts against El Toro (18-9), which has been energized by its wild-card victory over Capistrano Valley. Right-hander Brian Wolfe (10-1, 1.00, 125 strikeouts) is Servite’s ace. El Toro’s Blair Lucas (.539, four homers, 39 RBIs) is one of the county’s top hitters.

* Laguna Hills vs. Western, Glover Stadium, 3:15 p.m., Friday: A Division III matchup of teams that can score runs but have questionable pitching. Tom Banning (.473, six homers, 30 RBIs) leads Laguna Hills (14-11), and Ben Swanson (.500, four homers, 25 RBIs) paces Western (17-7-1).
