Braves Put Smoltz on Disabled List
Right-hander John Smoltz, who has a sore right elbow, was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Atlanta Braves.
To replace Smoltz on the active roster, the Braves activated closer Mark Wohlers from the disabled list. Wohlers pitched one inning Saturday for Double-A Greenville in a game at Huntsville.
Smoltz, making his eighth start this season after undergoing elbow surgery in December, gave up six hits and two runs in two-plus innings Saturday against the Chicago Cubs.
In his last two starts, he has allowed 16 hits and 10 earned runs.

The Cincinnati Reds put pitcher Mark Hutton on the 15-day disabled list Sunday and called up outfielder Pat Watkins from triple-A Indianapolis.
The Reds said Hutton has a strained groin, the same injury that disabled him during spring training. Hutton made no mention of the injury after one of the worst performances of his career, a 6-1 loss to the New York Mets last Thursday.
The next day, Hutton said he was looking forward to pitching again as soon as possible.
