Pat Devericks singled home David Chaparro in the sixth inning to snap a tie, and unseeded St. Bonaventure High, which had to win a wild-card game to reach the playoffs, upset L.A. Baptist, 7-6, Friday in a Southern Section Division V quarterfinal game at St. Bonaventure.

L.A. Baptist (19-6), the Alpha League champion and No. 4-seeded team, trailed, 6-0, after three innings but rallied and appeared to tie the score with two out in the top of the seventh when Ed Almeida hit a ball into the right-field gap, bringing home Raul Pacheco.

The Seraphs (12-12) appealed, claiming Almeida failed to touch first base. The umpire agreed and Almeida was called out, erasing the run.

Pacheco had three hits and an RBI and John Hubbard had two hits and scored for the Knights.
