A man who was shot on Halloween when he opened the door for a masked assailant was in good condition Monday.

Investigators continued to pursue leads in the case, authorities said.

The victim was upgraded from serious condition at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, said Lt. Joe Eddy of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire station.

When the victim answered the doorbell about 7 p.m. Saturday at his home in the 8900 block of Megan Place, he found a man wearing a ghost mask. The man opened fire, striking the victim several times in the chest, police said.

Among the leads detectives were pursuing was a partial description of the vehicle the assailant may have driven to the scene, Eddy said.

Detectives said they would not release other information because it could jeopardize the investigation and compromise the safety of those associated with the case.
