Zubin Mehta to Testify in McDougal Trial

Share

Famed symphony conductor Zubin Mehta will take the witness stand next week as a witness to rebut Whitewater figure Susan McDougal’s story at her embezzlement trial in Santa Monica, a prosecutor announced Friday as the defense rested.

McDougal declared her innocence once again before stepping off the witness stand after eight grueling days, most of them under cross-examination about minute details of her handling of the Mehtas’ financial affairs.

McDougal is charged with forging Nancy Mehta’s signature on checks and a credit card application to embezzle cash and goods worth more than $150,000 between 1989 and 1992--the years she worked for her as a personal assistant and bookkeeper.
