This Is One NBA Fan Who Loves the Lockout

As a longtime Laker season-ticket holder, I would like to publicly thank the NBA owners and players for showing me the light. Each canceled home game saves me $100, and I don’t miss going to the games at all.

In addition, I would like to thank the Lakers for sending me the new price chart for next year’s games at the Staples Center. With ticket prices doubling, next year I will save $200 per game. The NBA owners may be able to cancel games, but I can cancel tickets.

Please stop printing articles on the NBA lockout. If the season ever gets started, then report on the league, but only if there is no mention of the games missed. This fiasco does not deserve the coverage it’s given. The overpaid, undereducated, egocentric players are completely out of touch with reality. They actually think pro basketball plays a critical role in the lives of Americans.

On Oct. 29, Tim Kawakami quotes Shaquille O’Neal as he brags about being first in the NBA to go into show business, first to do a movie, first to do an album, first to do Wrestlemania and first to do a rap video.

Does this sound like a basketball player dedicated to bringing a championship to his team?
