A shooting outside an Irvine bowling alley left at least one person wounded late Saturday and investigators called in helicopters and police dogs in the search for the attackers.

Police were notified of a possible fight in the 3400 block of Michelson Drive about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Irvine Police Sgt. Susan Davis said. Before police arrived, 911 operators reported receiving calls that shots had been fired, Davis said.

Police located an unidentified shooting victim outside Irvine Lanes bowling alley, near the location of the fight. Police could not say how serious the injury was, but that a .38-caliber handgun was used in the assault.

A bowling alley manager said the fight and shooting took place outside the building. The manager did not know whether it originated inside.

Davis said police were looking for at least one attacker believed to be on foot, but police dispatchers said three or four possible more were seen on Michelson in a gray four-door car late Saturday.
