Outfielder Falco on Wavelength

Michael Falco, an All-Marmonte League outfielder from Agoura High, has signed a letter of intent with Pepperdine.

Falco batted .405 last season with nine home runs and 30 runs batted in.

BASKETBALL

Wiser decision: Louisville High has selected Kevin Wiser as interim girls’ coach. He takes over for Paula Getty-Shearer, who has taken a one-year leave of absence.

Wiser’s daughter, Megan Wiser, was an All-Mission League guard as a Louisville freshman last season.

SOFTBALL

Hallmark: Sara Hall, a junior catcher at Calabasas High, has been selected to participate in a training camp for prospective members of the U.S. team Jan. 2-6 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in San Diego.

Hall is one of 10 players selected to join 1996 Olympic team members at the camp, geared for prospective 2000 Olympic participants.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Statement: Roger Evans, girls’ coach at Simi Valley High for the last nine seasons, has been selected as one of the state’s honor coaches of the year by the CIF.

Evans, 50, guided the Pioneers to the Marmonte League dual-meet title this season and to a second-place finish in the overall standings behind Thousand Oaks.

Simi Valley won the Division I race of the Bell-Jeff Invitational on Sept. 26 and the Channel Islands Invitational on Oct. 2.

FOOTBALL

Knight time: Valley Youth Conference championship games are scheduled for Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m. at Sylmar High.

The Northridge Knights have teams playing for titles in the Gremlin Division (9- and 10-year-olds), the Tiny-Mite Division (10-11) and the Pee-Wee Division (12-13).
