The arrest of Hampton University’s coach, her husband and an assistant coach for allegedly trying to con a customer in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Lubbock, Texas, led to the cancellation of Tuesday night’s game against No. 12 Texas Tech, the school said.
Coach Patricia Bibbs, her husband Ezell Bibbs and assistant coach Vanetta Kelso were taken to jail Monday night after going shopping for the team at Wal-Mart. Lubbock Police Chief Ken Walker said a Wal-Mart customer identified one of the coaches as having been the lead perpetrator in an elaborate money scam.
