St. Bernard 20, Nordhoff 7--The Rangers couldn’t stop Jeff Brown on a short fourth-down pass near the end of the first half, shifting the momentum to the Vikings, who scored the last 20 points at St. Bernard.

On fourth and 13 from the Nordhoff 25-yard line, Brown caught Jamie Brooks’ pass and was nearly stopped short of the first down. But he escaped two Ranger defenders and raced into the end zone for the tying touchdown.

“We didn’t wrap up,” Coach Cliff Farrar of Nordhoff said. “We’ve been working on that since the first day of practice. All we have to do is tackle [Brown] and we go into the locker room up, 7-0. That was a killer.”
