Early Primary
What exactly do we get in exchange for the increased clout that an early primary brings to California (Sept. 29)?
It appears that we get to look forward to three more months of campaigning and three more months of incumbents not focusing on their appointed jobs. We get to look forward to candidates needing more special interests to fund those campaigns and therefore serving more of those special interests, should they get elected.
We also get to look forward to people with less money being entirely excluded from the process because of the sheer expense of it all.
Thankfully, the only thing we don’t have to look forward to is a Wilson presidency, because no matter how you play with the schedule, it will never happen.
