Channel Islands 27, Calabasas 27--Channel Islands’ Miguel Macias missed two field goals in the final three minutes, including a 44-yard attempt with four seconds to play, denying the Raiders (0-3-1) a chance to upset the Coyotes (3-0-1) at Channel Islands.
Trailing, 27-19, in the third quarter, Calabasas got a 50-yard touchdown pass from Dallas Enoch to Evan Rosenblum and a two-point conversion pass from Enoch to Shawn Abdi to tie the game.
Channel Islands scored more points in the first half--27--than the Coyotes had allowed in their first three games combined. The Raiders’ Russell Patton rushed for 233 yards and two touchdowns in 22 carries. Patton scored on runs of 64 and 76 yards on consecutive plays in the first half.
Calabasas scored two touchdowns 20 seconds apart midway through the second quarter. Abdi’s two-yard scoring run was followed by a fumble recovery by Mason Poole on the ensuing kickoff. Enoch then hit Matt Lowenstein with a 10-yard touchdown pass to give the Coyotes a 19-14 lead.
Enoch completed 11 of 18 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns. One of his passes was intercepted and returned for a 42-yard touchdown by Chris Biascan.
