Press Club Selects Scholarship Winners

The Ventura County Press Club announced the winners of its 1998 scholarship awards. Winners will each receive a check for $500 and be honored during the fifth annual Awards and Scholarship Banquet on Oct. 23 in Ventura. The winners:

Ayn Delrosario Devera of Oxnard, a freshman journalism student at Cal State Northridge.

Asa Marie Hastings, a Ventura High School graduate who will study journalism and English at New York University in spring, 1999.

Emily and Amy Frank of Simi Valley, twins and second-year journalism majors at Southern Methodist University.

Corina Roberts of Simi Valley, a Moorpark College journalism student.

And Trisha Kirk, a journalism major at Ventura College.

Gallegly Receives Pro-Senior Tax Cut Award

Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) has been honored by United Seniors Assn. with its 1998 Pro-Senior Tax Cut Award.

Gallegly was recognized for his “outstanding commitment to tax fairness for seniors.” The association is a conservative organization “dedicated to protecting the retirement security of all Americans.”
