Long Beach City 41, Saddleback 0--Long Beach City, ranked No. 1 in the nation, did something to Saddleback not many teams have been able to do--shut out the Gauchos.

For only the fourth time in the school’s history, Saddleback was blanked Saturday night at Veteran’s Stadium in Long Beach, pushing its record to 0-4.

Long Beach quarterback Sean Stein dominated, going 14 of 26 for 254 yards and three touchdowns.

Julio Paraza led Saddleback with 74 yards in 22 carries.

With the win, Long Beach improved to 4-0.

El Camino 34, Santa Ana 19-- Former Mater Dei quarterback John Leonard threw three touchdown passes, completing 24 of 33 for 239 yards with no interceptions for visiting El Camino (4-0).

El Camino scored 27 second-half points take a commanding lead. Leonard completed a six-yard touchdown pass to Gavia Kralik and a 13-yarder to running back Sunny Byrd.

His other scoring pass came in the first half when he found Robert Drewery for a 19-yarder.

Byrd also had a one-yard touchdown run as the Warriors scored 21 consecutive points in the third and fourth quarter and Delvon Flowers added a two-yard touchdown run late in the game. Santa Ana is 0-4.

Palomar 42, Orange Coast 17--Quarterback Tony Alvarez found Brandon Marshall on scoring passes of 69 and 58 yards and Scott Sims for a 10-yard touchdown as Palomar ended the Pirates’ two-game winning streak.

Running back Joe Hall gained 211 yards in 29 carries, scoring on runs of one, two and nine yards. After a scoreless first quarter, Palomar (4-0) scored 21 points in the second and led 21-7 at halftime.

Orange Coast’s Kevin Stevens gained 137 yards in 14 carries, including touchdown runs of 69 and 13 yards. David Yonts made a 32-yard field goal in the third quarter for Orange Coast (2-2).

Pasadena 33, Golden West 21--Golden West wide receiver Paul Tessier’s 14 catches were good enough for a school record, but not good enough to take down host Pasadena.

Tessier’s total surpasses the previous record of 11 set by Wesley Morris in 1995.

Quarterback J.D. Stern hooked up with Tessier for a 20-yard touchdown in the second quarter, and wound up completing 27 of 45 passes for 285 yards on the night.

In the San Diego Mesa women’s water polo tournament:

Golden West 12, Riverside 4-- Melody Warren scored seven goals and Chelsea Rowlands scored three as Golden West won the tournament title. Goaltenders Deborah Hoyt and Amber Zering each made four saves.
