La Canada High held Blair to 111 total yards, including only 30 in the first half, en route to a 34-6 victory over Blair on Thursday night in a Rio Hondo League opener at La Canada.

Junior fullback David Rosales had touchdown runs of one and two yards and quarterback Nathan Dane completed eight of 16 passes for 160 yards, with interceptions on his final three passes, for the Spartans (3-3), who were the visiting team because Blair (1-5) also plays its home games at La Canada.

Rosales’ first touchdown in the first quarter capped a five-play, 77-yard drive. Greg Swenson’s 45-yard run--his only carry of the game--keyed the drive.

Ian Spencer-Smith scored La Canada’s final touchdown with 1:21 to play after picking up a fumbled lateral between quarterback Esau Graves and fullback Terrance Hicks at the Blair 20-yard line.
