Canyon 44, Burbank 18--Quarterback Jason McKeon rushed for 92 yards and four touchdowns in 13 carries to lead the Cowboys (4-2) in a league opener at Burroughs.
McKeon scored four of the Cowboys’ first five touchdowns on three one-yard runs and a 16-yard run in the first half. He completed four of 10 for 46 yards, with three interceptions.
Canyon’s Ryan Jones led all rushers with 140 yards in 16 carries.
Burbank (1-5) was led by Alan Gutierrez, who rushed for 93 yards in 22 carries, including a 19-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Chris Escobar gave Canyon a 6-0 lead with a two-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. McKeon ran for his first touchdown late in the first quarter. His second touchdown run gave the Cowboys a 23-6 lead.
The teams combined for 165 yards in penalties. Canyon had four turnovers, all in the first half.
