Newbury Park 15, Westlake 10--Matt Rhodes scored six goals, including four in the third quarter, to help the Panthers pull into a tie for second place in the Marmonte League with a victory at Newbury Park.

Rhodes, the Panthers’ leading scorer, has 66 goals this season. In Newbury Park’s seven-goal third quarter, he scored twice at the end of fast breaks, once in a man-up situation after a Westlake player was ejected, and another on a drive inside.

Also converting in the quarter were Andy Hughes, Blake Mallen and Ryan Ameche.

Hughes finished with three goals and Mallen and Sid Pehrson each had two goals for Newbury Park (10-11, 3-2), which moved into a second-place tie with Royal.

Goalie Yoshi Kuwabara made 13 saves and Eric Ward sparked the Panthers’ offense with a strong passing game.

Dave Stelle had four goals for Westlake (4-6, 1-4). The Warriors got three goals by Elliot Myhre and two from Jarod Nygren.

Calabasas 10, Nordhoff 9--Graham Cole scored with four seconds to play to give the Coyotes a a Frontier League victory at Nordhoff.

Cory Gustafson scored three goals for Nordhoff (5-13, 2-3). Gustafson, the Rangers’ best defensive player, fouled out in the third quarter.

Danny Paz scored three goals for Calabasas (2-2 in league).

Rio Mesa 17, Villanova Prep 7--Trevor Owens and Matt Rockwell each scored four goals, and Dan Imtrota made 20 saves for the Spartans (8-9, 3-2) in a Frontier League victory at Villanova Prep.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Harvard-Westlake 3, Palisades 3--The No. 2 doubles team of Katelyn Rader and Kelly Hanker defeated Tiffan Miller and Sanam Salek, 10-2, and the Wolverines beat the defending City Section champion Dolphins on games, 45-41, at Palisades Recreation Center in Pacific Palisades.

The Wolverines (13-2) swept the doubles matches, while Palisades took all three singles matches.

Cleveland 4, San Fernando 3--Modesta Salmeron, Debbie Yim, Leanne Chan and Alma Mazo won to give the Cavaliers (8-0, 4-0) a sweep in singles play in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Cleveland.

The No. 1 team of Elizabeth Cardenas and Claudia Perez remained unbeaten for San Fernando (7-2, 3-2), which swept the doubles matches.

Campbell Hall 16, Whitney 2--Melissa Nguyen (33-0) didn’t lose a game and allowed just nine points in sweeping three sets for the Vikings (10-2, 4-2) in a Delphic League game at Cerritos Regional Park.

Nordhoff 15, Villanova Prep 3--The Rangers (7-7) won eight of nine doubles sets, including three each by No. 2 and No. 3 teams, in a nonleague match at Villanova Prep.

The Rangers’ No. 2 team of Dina Fragale and Amber Moyers won, 6-4, 6-0, 6-0, and Aubrey Swetek and Katie Brozowski won, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, 6-3.

Mayfield 14, La Reina 4--Samantha Hammond won two of three singles sets for the Regents (10-2) in a nonleague defeat at La Reina.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Crescenta Valley def. Hoover, 15-1, 14-16, 15-12, 15-5--Tracy Jackson had 19 kills and Melinda Moulden added 13 for the Falcons (11-3, 7-0) in a Pacific League victory at Crescenta Valley.

Whitney def. Campbell Hall, 15-8, 15-5, 15-5--Cicely Carew had 10 kills and Marissa McIntosh had 20 assists for the Vikings (8-5, 2-3) in a Delphic League defeat at Campbell Hall.
