Attic Fire Damages Pizza Restaurant
Flames broke out in the attic of a Camarillo pizza shop Wednesday afternoon, damaging the restaurant while smoke and water crept into nearby businesses.
The fire started in the attic of Hot Sam’s Pizza at 4421 Las Posas Road about 1:45 p.m., authorities said. The fire was caused by a 15,000-volt wire that is used for a business sign that was left uncapped, fire officials said.
Ventura County firefighters got the blaze under control about 2:30 p.m. Damage to the pizza business, which is undergoing renovation, is estimated at $10,000. Other businesses in the strip mall, including a laundry and a donut shop, sustained smoke and water damage, authorities said.
