Man Found Dead; Teen Is Fatally Shot

The body of a middle-aged homeless man was found in an Anaheim alley and a teenager known to associate with gangs was gunned down outside a party in Santa Ana, police said Sunday.

Anaheim detectives are seeking information on the apparent beating of the man found about 6:20 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block of West Lincoln Avenue near Magnolia Avenue, Sgt. Greg Palmer said.

The coroner’s office estimated the victim, in his 50s, had been dead two or three days, Palmer said. Police could not release the victim’s name until they notified his family.

At 12:41 a.m. Sunday in Santa Ana, Gabino I. Lopez, 18, was fatally shot outside a party at 805 S. Townsend, Santa Ana Police Lt. Bob Chavez said.

Witnesses told police that Lopez was standing outside an apartment when he was called over to a vehicle, whose passenger shot him, Chavez said. He said it was not clear where Lopez lived.
