2nd Roller Hockey Rink to Be Built at Park
A second roller hockey rink will be built at Charles S. Wilson Park by next spring and the park’s existing rink will be upgraded.
The City Council has approved both projects, said Tom Peffer, president of the Torrance Skate Assn.
Work on both rinks will be funded by the association, which is a private group run by Peffer. Peffer, who owns skate shops in Lomita and Culver City, said he offered to build a second rink because the existing one could not accommodate all the roller hockey teams that practice there.
The association will spend $229,000 on the new rink, he said, and $247,000 installing a new floor and putting a roof on the old one.
