Saberhagen Gets New Contract
Associated Press
Bret Saberhagen, who bounced back from two seasons of shoulder problems to become one of Boston’s best pitchers, agreed Sunday on a three-year contract extension.
Saberhagen, 34, is 13-7 with a 4.00 ERA in 28 starts. The two-time Cy Young Award winner missed most of 1996 and 1997 because of trouble with his right shoulder. The former World Series MVP is 154-108 with Kansas City, the New York Mets, Colorado and Boston.
