A Lake Forest man was shot in the hand late Monday after refusing to cooperate with three would-be robbers at his home, police said.
The man, whom authorities declined to identify for his own protection, was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana for treatment of his wound, which officials said did not appear to be life-threatening.
The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m., said Rich Paddock, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Paddock said investigators believe the 49-year-old man let two men and a woman into his home in the 24000 block of Rollingwood Road. After the shooting, the three escaped in a small black car, Paddock said. No further details of the incident were released.
Sheriff’s officials requested that anyone with information about the incident call investigators at (949) 425-1800 during regular business hours or (714) 628-7170 after hours.
