Aliso Niguel Scores Overtime Victory
Mike Markman scored three of his five goals in overtime, including the game-winner, to lead host Aliso Niguel past Dana Hills, 16-15, in a nonleague boys’ water polo game Wednesday.
With the score tied, 15-15, Markman scored his fifth goal with 1 minute 28 seconds remaining in overtime.
Scott Schafer, who scored six goals for Aliso Niguel (1-0), scored with 57 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Wolverines a 13-12 lead. But Dana Hills’ Mark Rocca scored 12 seconds later to tie it, 13-13, and send the game into overtime.
David Kardos scored five goals and Kevin Hanchett had four for Dana Hills (0-1).
