DALLAS COWBOYS (1-1)

AT NEW YORK GIANTS (1-1)

* Kickoff: 5:15 p.m.

* TV: Channel 7

* Story line: First Trent Green making his NFL debut as a starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins, and now Jason Garrett running the offense for the Cowboys. So much for Monday night marquee value. Dallas will try and get by with Garrett while Troy Aikman is sidelined because of a broken collarbone. Cowboy Coach Chan Gailey is known for exotic looks on offense, but he’ll probably scale things down until Aikman returns. Emmitt Smith, an effective runner in the first two games, will likely carry much of the load. “Since Troy’s out, I’m quite sure (their) emphasis is going to be more on the running game,” said Giant defensive tackle Robert Harris. “We’ve just got to go out and match up with them, come out with some intensity and be ready to play. We’re going to treat Garrett just as if Troy was playing--play good, solid defense and get after him.” After an embarrassing loss to the Raiders, the Giants have to improve their rushing game. Tiki Barber, Charles Way and Gary Brown just haven’t gotten the job done, but the Cowboys aren’t stopping the run very well. Quarterback Danny Kanell has been good but needs to make more big plays. He has gotten good pass protection but the Giant offensive line has committed too many penalties.

* The Line: Giants by 4
