HUNTINGTON BEACH
A 21-year-old Canoga Park man crashed his car into a utility pole early Monday, knocking out power to several homes and the traffic signal at Bolsa Chica Street and Edinger Avenue, police said. Police allege that Ryan Malloy was driving under the influence of alcohol at 2 a.m. when he crashed his 1989 Honda Civic into the utility pole, cutting power to neighboring homes and businesses.
Malloy, who was not injured, was taken into custody. A crew of about 18 people from the Edison Co. worked through the night to restore power to homes and fix the utility pole, police said.
