Water Main Break Causes Road Collapse
A ruptured water main collapsed a section of the 11000 block of Darling Road on Tuesday morning, leaving city crews grappling with a sedan-sized sinkhole.
“It was a muddy mess,” said east Ventura resident Virginia Bass, who dipped into her emergency stash of bottled water after the city turned off the neighborhood valves to work on the broken pipe.
Ventura police said the rupture occurred about 5 a.m. near the entrance to the Buenaventura Mobile Home Park.
The road was closed temporarily, but reopened after city crews repaired the break and patched the sinkhole.
