Body of Man, 69, Found Near Freeway
The Ventura County coroner’s office is trying to determine the cause of death of a man found in an Oxnard field.
The body of Felix Reyes Santiago, 69, was spotted by motorists near the Del Norte Boulevard offramp of the Ventura Freeway on Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.
The body was lying against a chain-link fence when police arrived shortly after 1:30 p.m.
An autopsy Sunday morning did not reveal the cause of death, according to medical examiners.
Toxicology tests will be conducted, but results may not be available for up to two months.
“There does not seem to be any trauma involved in the death,” said Mitch Breese, senior deputy medical examiner investigator.
The coroner’s office said Santiago was last seen alive April 8.
Santiago had lived in Oxnard until late last month but had no known residence since then.
