Tribute to Country Music’s Man in Black Among Offerings

A sequel to an Oscar-winning documentary and a tribute to famed country singer Johnny Cash are among the specials scheduled for this weekend.

Danny Glover hosts “Scared Straight! 20 Years Later,” tonight at 8 on UPN. The original, award-winning documentary chronicled hardened convicts confronting young offenders. The sequel features the same people reflecting on that experience. (Story on Page 50.)

John Stossel hosts the ABC special “Sex, Drugs and Consenting Adults,” tonight at 10.

MTV’s second “Wanna Be a VJ Search” concludes with four hours of live programming Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.

Alan Thicke hosts the new PAX TV special “Animals Are People Too,” Saturday at 8 p.m.

The Learning Channel presents the Peabody Award-winning series, “Intimate Universe: The Human Body,” Sunday and Monday at 6 p.m.

E! Entertainment Television offers a “Behind the Scenes” look at the Miss USA contest, Sunday at 7 p.m.

Roseanne Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris and Kris Kristofferson perform on the TNT concert “An All-Star Tribute to Johnny Cash,” Sunday at 8 p.m.

Nickelodeon kicks off its Big Help Week with the “Nick News Special Edition--The Big Help,” Sunday at 8:30 p.m. The special examines America’s history of volunteering.

Roy Marsden returns as Cmdr. Adam Dalgliesh in a new two-part “Mystery!” thriller, “A Certain Justice,” tonight at 9 on KCET-TV.

VH1 kicks off the new weekly special “Before They Were Rock Stars,” Friday at 10 p.m. Included will be early pics and clips of Cher, Sarah McLachlan, the Bee Gees and Sting.

PBS’ “Masterpiece Theatre” presents “Reckless: The Sequel,” Sunday at 9 p.m. on KCET-TV. The romantic comedy, which picks up one year later from the original, finds hunky Owen (Robson Green) proposing marriage to Anna (Francesca Annis). Her ex-husband, Richard (Michael Kitchen), sets out to destroy their wedding plans.

USA’s “Silk Stalkings,” bids adieu after eight seasons with a two-hour finale, Sunday at 9 p.m.

John Cusack stars in “The Jack Bull,” an HBO western adventure penned by his father, Dick, and directed by veteran John Badham, Saturday at 9 p.m.

Michael Jace has the title role in the Fox Family Channel bio-pic “Michael Jordan: An American Hero,” Sunday at 8 p.m.

Natalie Cole, Samantha Mathis, Marlee Matlin and Jonathan Silverman star in “Freak City,” Sunday at 8 p.m. on Showtime. The comedy-drama focuses on a woman with multiple sclerosis who is institutionalized against her will.

Ruby Dee and Diahann Carroll star in “Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters’ First 100 Years,” Sunday at 9 p.m. on CBS. Adapted by Emily Mann from her Broadway hit, the drama deals with the amazing real-life Delany sisters who, as centenarians, look upon the past century.
